In this project, Hasbro wanted to make collectible playing card designs for their Transformers franchise. The designs need to appeal to collectors who grew up with the 1984 cartoon. Both Autobot and Decepticon card boxes were based on their respective ships, the Nemesis and the Ark. Each face card is a character from the Generation One show redrawn to accentuate their uniqueness and collectibility.
